Welcome to the Countries of Ecstein
Zareff is a continent made up of eight countries, also called the Countries of Ecstein. They are: Kartha, Iptin Province, Reij, Xhingrahv, Ectarin, Morrovac, Nuwnot, and Tsein.
Zareff interprets as, "the way the dice roll", named for the scattered appearance of how the countries are laid out.
Read on for more information on each country.

KarthaKartha would not attract much attention if not for the healing magic stone that could be found in the south. The Vastgerdite is a crystal that offers healing through the land. Should the crystal ever be removed from Kartha, the country would become lifeless—all plant and animal life would die.
People from everywhere come to marvel at the magic and mystery of Kartha. Many fear it, others find it exciting. Those from afar who fear the magic have determined that Kartha is cursed and untouchable. It therefore, has been excluded from much trade in and out of other countries. Fun fact: The two mountain ranges in the south were once one long range. After the Chronicle Storm wreaked havok throughout the southern region of the country, the ranges split and are now the Bludesel Mountains (east) and the Teiry Mountains (west). |
Iptin
Iptin Province is the smallest among the Countries of Ecstein. There'd been much debate and strife over whether Iptin Province was simply a province of Ectarin or a country unto itself. A vote put to rest any further discussion on the matter and Iptin Province was deemed the eighth country of Ecstein. Having been labelled a province for decades, the name stuck.
Iptin is mostly made up of prairies and grasslands. Summer's experience extreme heat and humidity, while winters are the opposite: dry and with temperatures dropping dangerously low, especially at night. There are two major rivers, and the highest mountains in the west reach summits no greater than 4000ft. |
Reij
From beautiful shorelines along the warm sea, to thick, dense jungles, Reij is a vibrant and thriving country, where colours are bright and the weather is hot.
Reij is home to the Clove Mountains where cluvasil metal is mined. The metal is precious and highly sought after—but the secrets surrounding the mountains have drawn the attention of the nearby undersea queendom of Espeértra, home to the mer-folk.
Mermaids and mermen can transform into human form and often do to visit Reij. The people of Reij must be wary though, for mermaids are known to be a wicked sort.

Xihngrahv
Between the ideal climates and terrain in Xihngrahv, the country has become a hot-spot for the wealthy to visit. Because of this, the country thrives on tourism.
Ectarin
Ectarin is the largest in all the Countries of Ecstein. It is a major hub for transporting goods all throughout the continent.
Morrovac
Morrovac's moderate climate and mountainous scenery makes it a desirable country to visit. Miriv is the capital city where the many hot springs are a well known attraction to those near and far. Apart from the extreme cold temperatures in winter that deter tourism, rules are strict and customs are meant to be adhered to.
Nuwnot
Nuwnot is known for their advancements in inventions and machinery/technology—always ten steps ahead of the other nations.
Tsein
Tsein is large in land-mass, but the population is the least in all of the countries, excluding Iptin Province. This is because the rugged mountains in the northwest and the scattered boggy swamps deem the land uninhabitable.
